Practice Areas

Practice areas are categories of legal practice that lawyers specialize in. Lawyers may specialize in one or more practice areas, depending on their interests and expertise. Examples of common practice areas include criminal law, family law, real estate law, corporate law, intellectual property law, and immigration law.

Criminal law involves the prosecution and defense of individuals charged with a crime. Criminal lawyers represent clients in court proceedings, conduct legal research on cases, and provide advice on various legal matters related to criminal cases.

Family law deals with matters related to family relationships such as adoption, divorce, child custody and support issues. Family lawyers assist clients in navigating the legal process for resolving family disputes such as divorce or child custody battles.

Real estate law involves the handling of issues related to the buying and selling of real estate property. Real estate lawyers help clients negotiate contracts for the purchase or sale of a property as well as handle disputes that may arise between buyers and sellers.

Corporate law deals with the formation and operation of businesses such as corporations and limited liability companies (LLCs). Corporate lawyers advise clients on forming companies, drafting contracts, filing documents with government agencies, securing financing for businesses, and other business-related matters

Intellectual property (IP) law deals with protecting creative works such as trademarks, copyrights, patents and trade secrets. Intellectual property lawyers help clients protect their creations from unauthorized use by others through filing applications for IP protection or taking legal action against those who have infringed upon their IP rights.

Immigration law pertains to laws governing the entry of non-citizens into a country or jurisdiction. Immigration lawyers assist clients with filing applications for visas or green cards as well as representing them during deportation proceedings if necessary.
